Should your business be “Omnipresent” on all social media platforms?
Picking a “Word of the Year” is a fun strategy to keep focused on your bigger goal.
For Big Domino Marketing, we chose the word “Omnipresent” and to be seen everywhere on social media.
Considering we are halfway through 2019, we thought we’d give you an update on our goal and whether we are making progress.
You might be wondering:
1) Why we chose that specific word in the first place.
2) If we are living up to the word and if so, how?
3) How you can apply this to your business.
Let’s dive in.
1.) Why we chose the word “Omnipresent”
The full article about our Word of 2019 can be found here, but let’s quickly recap why we chose this word.
One of the main reasons we wanted to expand our reach is because of the numerous changes Facebook has been making to the platform, especially for marketers.
We’ve seen costs increase and massive swings in the algorithm. Ads that work excellently one day might give erratic results the next.
Does this mean you should pull your marketing spend from Facebook?
No.
We still believe in the power of the platform, especially due to the massive reach of 1.62 billion active users per month.
Big Domino Marketing specialises in marketing funnels and placing paid adverts on Facebook for our clients. We still achieve positive ROI for our clients using paid Facebook and Instagram ads. Discover more reasons why Facebook ads work here.
But all that being said, we want to warn you that if you are spending your entire marketing budget on Facebook, it means you’re putting all your eggs into one basket.
For ourselves as digital marketers, we are always anticipating change before it happens, which is why we’ve diversified our own marketing strategies and our services.
And we advise our clients to do the same.
That’s why we want to help you put measures in place for your business sooner rather than later, so that you can continue to build your brand and market your products and services successfully.
We believe that one of the best ways to do that is to be visible and posting on multiple social media platforms.
2) Have we lived up to the word “Omnipresent” and if so, how?
YES, we have! We have put massive amounts of time, effort and energy into building up content on multiple platforms.
Remember, one of the key reasons to do this because people don’t buy from you the first time they hear from you or see your posts. Your ideal customers need to see your company several times before they begin to recognise and remember your brand.
Building trust takes time. But being seen on multiple platforms shortens that window considerably.
That’s why it’s so important to start now.
How have we expanded our impact this year?
So how exactly have we made ourselves “omnipresent” on social media?
1. We still use Facebook extensively because we love posting and doing Facebook Lives.
2. Get your digital marketing motivation from our Instagram account.
3. We launched a YouTube channel with FREE digital marketing training, tips and advice.
4. Our brand new podcast can be found on SoundCloud.
5. Our LinkedIn is regularly updated with important marketing content.
6. We have increased our activity on Twitter.
7. Google My Business is essential for SEO. Currently, we post at a minimum weekly on our Google My Business page.
We are also in the process of completely redesigning our website to keep it fresh (for more tips on how to revamp your site, read this blog here).
We also run paid ads as well as provide useful lead magnets to grow our email subscriber list.
Plus you’ll eventually find us on Pinterest too, as soon as the new website is done.
All in all, we would say we are living up to our Word of 2019.
Advantages of being Omnipresent
There are many benefits to posting content on several social media platforms.
This goes for organic content as well as paid advertising.
– Reach more people
– Be seen by different segments of your target market. Some people hang out on Instagram, while others want to find you on LinkedIn
– Improved SEO ranking
– Building brand awareness
– Provide value to your audience
– Increased trust
– Build your online credibility
Disadvantages to being on so many social media platforms
We won’t lie, it takes a lot of time and effort to create and post content on so many different social media channels.
We are fortunate that our team members love content creation and this means that the workload is shared.
One of the best pieces of advice we can give you is to create a content calendar and work with your team to brainstorm new content ideas.
Finally, the #1 hack to creating bucket loads of content is by simply repurposing content you already have.
We show you how to repurpose content here.
3) How you can apply this to your business
First of all, we don’t want you to feel overwhelmed if your current focus is on Facebook and probably Instagram.
If you’re currently using just these two platforms, then at the very least use these platforms to their FULLEST.
By this we mean that you shouldn’t just post on Facebook and Instagram, you need to try every tool and feature that they give you.
Mix it up by posting images, carousels and videos.
You need to be doing regular Facebook Lives and having fun with Instagram Stories.
If you have longer videos, be sure to upload them to Instagram TV (Check out this article for more about IGTV!)
Once you are ready to choose another platform, think about where your customers would likely hang out online.
If you offer professional services, consider LinkedIn.
On the other hand, maybe a YouTube channel would be the ideal way to reach more of your ideal customers.
A word about analytics
As much as we believe in the power of being seen everywhere, we also believe that the numbers don’t lie.
Check your analytics and don’t be blinded by the vanity metrics.
It’s more important to know where you are getting most of your followers, buyers, appointments, link clicks, lead magnet opt-ins and website visitors from.
These are metrics that really count because they can all lead to new customers and increased sales.
That being said, it does take a LONG time to build up a following so please be patient.
Don’t start a YouTube channel today and expect massive amounts of subscribers overnight.
You need to be patient and post consistently to see results.
The Takeaway
Our analytics show our goal of being omnipresent is working as we are getting more leads and customers with this strategy.
We want the same success for you, which is why we are sharing so openly what we’ve been doing to increase business for ourselves and our clients.
Even though we are living up to our Word of 2019 to seen everywhere, we admit that it does take a lot of time and effort.
If you’re a busy entrepreneur or business owner, you simply might not have the time to do this all yourself.
We have a proven strategy that works and we are using it for our clients and ourselves.
